Dr. Hauwa Maimusa was born on 1st January 1966, she hails from Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State. She attended Women Teachers College Maiduguri from 1977 to 1982 where she obtained her Grade II Certificate. On the 12th April, 2013 marked a significant moment in her life where she obtained a Ph.D. (Intellectual History) From the University of Maiduguri. Dr. Hauwa has a Masters in International Relations, a Masters in Public Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education (English) all obtained from the University of Maiduguri. She also has a National Diploma from Ramat Polytechnic.
Before her current appointment as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in 2018, she was an Assistant Registrar in Kashim Ibrahim College of Education in Maiduguri, an Academic Secretary in the same college. In 2001 she was appointed as Assistant Director in the Ministry of Information, Borno State, and was later transferred to the Ministry of Land and Survey in 2003 as Deputy Director. In 2006, she finally transferred to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as Director of Administration and Supply.
